"What should I name my new song? What could possible come after 'Friday'?"
Just a little more than a week ago, Rebecca Black was on Twitter, lamenting a dark future in which she'll have to explain "Friday"—the vanity single that rocketed her into instant Internet stardom a few years ago—to her grandchildren. A few days later, she released this video of her embarrassed reaction to the music video released by the naive young girl she once was.
"Could I ever have had such straight hair?"
So, it seemed like maybe she was acquiring some self-awareness. Was Rebecca Black becoming sentient?!
Nope. Turns out that was all marketing. Because now, on a Saturday, Rebecca Black has released the follow up to "Friday," called "Saturday." Which is pretty clever if you happen to know the progression of the days of the week. Otherwise, you'll just have to enjoy this song based solely upon its slight upgrade in production quality and mild downgrade in lyrical creativity:
This Saturday, we gon' party all night.
One we will remember for the rest of our lives.
This Saturday, we gon' doi it bigger than we have have before.
I don't want this Saturday to end.
I suspect that by the time she releases "Wednesday," in about twelve years, she might actually find her Sgt. Pepper.
